Has anyone ever successfully kept any? What are the ideal water perimeters? Anyone got any pictures of any they are keeping?

They're cheap (can be bought from the grocery store). Tolerate a wide temp range and salinity from brackish to full marine. And, will eat anything offered. However, they're highly aggressive and WILL eat any and all tankmates, including other blue claw crabs. They're also amazing escape artists and can lift pretty heavy tops to do so.
The salinity was my biggest concern. Wasn't sure. I was going to keep just one in a tank anyway or maybe 2 if I divided the tank. Species only. Question though. Would you have to worry about them tearing up the silicon that seals the tank?
Just make sure it has no access to the top surface that it can climb on and you should be fine. And yes they are strong, they are like any other aggressive predatory crab. Salinity, they are very tolerable.
The average max growth is about 8" in carapace width. With the legs, they're about a foot across. Some individuals have been recorded with nearly 11" carapace width.
