I will be getting a blue eye pleco this week. I already named him BLUEY. Bluey will be housed in his own 75 gallon aquarium. I was wondering what kind of gravel to put in with him ( or should I leave the bottom of the tank bare)? My aquarium right now had bright blue gravel so I don't know if its good for a blue eye pleco or not ( Will the blue gravel stress him out cause he's not use to the bright blue color). I know driftwood is a must cause they eat them and caves or plants for hiding places. Also how long should I wait before I start feeding him? I know most fish wont eat for two or three days while they adjust to a new tank. Last question I have is how often should I do water changes and how much should I take out of the tank ( Like 50 percent water changes or less ). Please help me answer all of my questions for I've paid $1,500 for this rare specimen and dont want him to die..... ;)

$1,500 ? !! :WHOA:

Water changes depend on the amount of bioload involved. Twice a week isn't bad. I prefer black sand for plecos.

How big will it be? I also have one coming in this week, Im going to try giving him cucumber, I just got a huge watermelon and it started to eat the next day, completely demolished the cucumber!Post pics when you can, would like to see it, great pick up!

Id go with nice fine gravel or black gravel, i think that coloured stuff looks tacky wich you dont want with a $1,500 pleco.
Couldn't agree more, $1500 pleco with tacky blue gravel? Hope it works out looking forward to pictures

So is the dark blue gravel tacky ( I have dark blue not bright blue )? It wont harm the fish right? You know the post by knowdafish of his arowana ( The blue water is the exact same gravel color I have in my aquarium.) Is that wrong or okay?
