Blue eyes

Just a follow-up to a discussion that was started on a different thread,
I am curious to know which sp develop blue eyes,
Which sex
What age/size

Male vieja bifasciatus, 10/11 inch, 3 years old, seems to be more noticeable depending on his mood,

Guttulatus around one year old male,bright blue eyes.



Melanura, 1 year old,male bright blue eyes



Female melanura 1 year old, gold eyes

Strange how guttulatus get blue eyes but zonatus don't, not that I have seen anyway

Melanura pair together.You can see the Difference in eye colours.

I can't see any blue in the eyes of any of my juvenile melanura.I think it must come with maturity.

Think your right on the age thing, my juvi biffa male hasn't got blue eyes

We could do with everyone posting their adult males to see which do all get the blue eyes.
Could be a useful sex guide if this trait kicks in before other signs of maturity.
