are bright metallic blue fins on juvi jags a good sign? the dominant of the two is very colorful with bright red eyes and seems very happy. is the color just a sign of health?will it fade with age?

Mine had blue fins when young. In that thread it was called a female but it wound up being a male.

Mine has had Blue on his fins since he was 3" and now is 7.5". Mine is also wildcaught so he has double the Blue. His fins are almost entirely blue with Copper Red eyes. It means they are in good health and they have good genes. I'll post pics later.

Unless I am mistaken the fish in cross's avatar is a zaliosum.

Anyway, blue on the fins just means you're taking good care of him :).

You might be right, but I recall him mentioning in another thread that he had one.

so blue usually means it's a him or no? if so that would make sense cuz he is larger than the other one outta the same batch and is much more dominant.

Here's my 4" courtesy of baracuda. He's 2nd in command in my tank next to a 9" red belly.
