I am so frustrated right now with my 55, it is on its way to heavily planted but I have been fighting algae outbreaks and now I have that slimey green/dark brown cyanobacteria crap growing on my filter output and my moss tied to driftwood.
The other plants are all doing well.... my willow leaf Hygro grew nearly an inch since friday as well as two knew leaves coming up on my lotus in the last few days. I also need to trim my Vals again.
I dont want to dose the tank with antibiotics if I can all avoid it since I have Cories, GBR and tiny baby <1.5" clown loaches.
Any ideas or help would Rock
I took my filter off this morning and cleaned the plastic parts then soaked in Hydrogen peroxide for a while then rinsed my media in dechlorinated water as well as doing a large water change, making fresh Co2 mix and dosing all my ferts. I also did a half dose of excel to boost things hopefully without killing my vals and anachris.
I also added more anachris from my other tanks because I have heard it secretes some sort of substance like an antibiotic to help combat the SLIME
so I hope it doesnt die off like it does when its new from the store..we will see.
