I am having a bit of a problem with a blue/green algae/slime. A couple of months ago I changed from ur normal shop bought pebbles/gravel to a LFS granite gravel, which was for fish tanks but I am pretty sure that's when the problem started.
I do weekly if not more often 50-70% water changes and I have good filtration. My tank is a planted community tank with neons, mollies a GKF a few BN's and apple snails. The main plants I have are wysteria with some anubias on driftwood and some java ferns, it seems also lately my wysteria is becomming brittle and not growing rappidly which it used to. I have had ppl tell me that granite gravel causes this type of algae yet other ppl tell me it doesn't and it must be my water parameters, before I go out and buy new gravel I was just wanting to get mroe opinions. Was thinking of removing the gravel and boiling it???
