Ok so I kinda stole from a bunch of others ideas on here and built a nice little LED strip.

Supplies needed
1. Box of LED blue lights from Wal-mart. ($6)
2. 3 boxes of LED light clips , also sourced there.($2 a box)
3. 1 extension cord
4. 1 Timer ($4)
5. 1 strip of 90 angle aluminum from Lowes. ($8)

Take the little clips and space them aprox 1/4 inch from each other for doing a 48" strip. 60 lights seemed to do just fine on my 90 gallon with ease. Clip in the lights and test the strip before mounting . Mount strip to underside of hood , run cord , plug in and admire your work.

Lol dude i like your sig! Nice moonlights?

cool, you have the easiest diy method i've seen so far. i like it. I would probably add some extra adhesive to those clips to make sure they hold over time.

Yeah...moonlights..for when the Parrot and the JD are in the mood...LOL

As cheap as these things are you could easily light a whole tank with 3 sets of white ones.

Well the adhesive on them seems decent but I think with the moisture they will give up...I am actually gonna run a bead of hot glue across them to give em some extra holding power.

yea the hot glue will hold them for sure. With all these diy moonlight threads, i kinda want to do one now. If i decide i'll have to jack your design, seems easy.

Yea by far the easiest way to do it. I only have roughly 20 bucks in the whole thing. If you notice it's spaced up from the surface of the water by a good 6 inches, and I still get incredible light penetration.

It does however piss me off that about a year ago I spent 40 bucks on a 6 lamp setup on ebay that was worthless.

Wow. I'm on a budget and this is gonna be so cool. I may have to add a few more strips but I totally can't wait. Thanks!
