Hey im looking into getting some Blue light / Moonlight for my 175g tank to have at night . been checking some setups and it looks really nice .
anyone got some ideas what u can use for this that will be strong enough?
Was thinking of maybe some LED lights that u use for PCs or a Neon tube that u use to Style cars with ?

yeah, i've seen both, and they look fine!
im not sure of the way the got power to it.. a certain type of power supply..

I just bought some at the lfs for like 20 to 30 bucks, looks great at night, would definitely recommend it

GUESS I WASENT THE ONLY ONE THINKING OG OF THAT. I RECENTLY BOUGHT SOME MOON LIGHTS AT A LFS. IT WAS THREE LEDS FOR MY 46 GALLON. AND THEY SUCKED. THEY WERE CALLED MOON LIGHTS. AND ONE DAY I WAS WALKING IN WALMART AND SEEN THOSE LIGHTS FOR THE BOTTOM OF CARS. BUT THEY ARE 12V HARD WIRES. SO I WENT TO RADIO SHACK AND FOUND A CONVERTER. DOWN FALL WAS THE CONVERTER WAS 24 BUCKS, LIGHTS 10 BUCKS. AND NOW I HAVE A 100G. I WOULD NEED LIKE MAYBE THREE LIGHT BARS AND THREE CONVERTERS. COMES OUT TO BE WAY TO EXPENSIVE. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU COME UP WITH.

the blue L.E.D. XMAS lights is what i read about in the past

Don't know about those tubes and I'm no electric experts, but with LED lights, it gets a lot cheaper if you know exactly how much current the circuit needs.

I got a bunch of those LED lights for cars. The whole circuit (a set of 8 Blue LEDs) was supposed to run on a 12v DC 900mA power source. So I went to the electronics store, got a power adaptor that said 12v DC at 2000mA (2A) and connected two units of 8 (so 16) LEDs. 900 x 2 = 1800.
The adaptor is more than what I need, but when it comes to current, the LEDs will only take what they need. Just don't go over with the voltage. That's where you can really run into trouble. Always use a 12v or 9 if you wanna play it safe and/or maybe go dimmer.
