Blue Line Grouper (Boenacki Grouper)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
pretty impressive looking grouper. reason asking is ive got the chance to get a medium size one (looks to be 4-6 inches). The guys askin price is 50, but im sure i can knock that down a bit. Kinda worried he might take a shot at my clown trigger since hes only 3inches. The guy who has him says hes real shy so i dont know.

I agree with both comments. My groupers ignore my clown trigger completely, and it must be due to the trigger mechanism. It is indeed down to trial and error with predators. I have had a grouper eat my barracuda, then my green moray ate the grouper. You just never know what might happen next.

I got a 4" Miniatus(similar aggression to a blue-line) and a 3" Clown Trigger in the same tank (120), along with a 22" Snowflake eel. The Miniatus has never bothered the Clown, and vice-versa. Groupers are "flash" feeders; they sit fairly still until food is in the tank; at which point they make a flash attack toward the food. I try and feed the Miniatus first(different food) and then the Trigger.

never housed personally but with any grouper the bigger the tank the better even when they recommend a specific tank size I still say at least 75 gallons more.

he check with the guy and hes keeping the miniatus and trading the blue line for a blue spotted. Ill just have to wait till something else comes around
