Life span can be from 2 to 5 years depending on the water temp you are keeping them in. They will become fish food very easily when they moult and are soft to touch. Makes for an easy meal for the fish.
ive had mine for 3 years until it climbed the intake tube and fell 5 feet and diedof dehydration. same thing to another 1 i had but it only lived 2 months
