Hey could some explain to me how to breed blue rams ive breed some convicts but thats not much of an acomplishment

It can be done, but is one of the more difficult to breed and raise the fry.

Giving them high quality food, clean water and flat rocks and they will spawn.

Problems I have encountered:
1 - getting good stock - almost all of the rams in your LFS come from asia and have been treated with hormones to enhance their color. This often results in organ failure and other problems a few months down the line. Also, there are now balloon body rams and long-fin varieties that i don't care for.

2 - the eggs need super-soft water to hatch - you need ro, or naturally soft water

3 - they are usually not good parents, so the eggs need to hatched in a separate tank.

4 - the newly swimming fry are too small to eat baby brine shrimp, yet need live food. I've used microworms.

5 - the fry are pretty sensitive and need lots of water changes

I get pairs and continue to try, but it is tough. The best rams I get are the ones from breeders at aquarium club auctions.
