I finally found a female that my male accepted and after 4 days of good care and feeding them live brine shrimp at night, they laid eggs 2 nights ago and were very protective and did a good job fanning them, but this morning the eggs seem to be gone?? I know this is a common thing with rams' but just wondering if anyone has any advice. I have great pictures and video of them spawning, last night I turned off filter and placed a sponge filter in the tank. Its a 10 gallon with gravel, lots of live plants driftwood and small flower pots. Only other fish in the tank are 6 small feeder guppies and one sucker fish. The rams run the tank obviously, but I know they are first time parents and I'm willing tondo anything to encourage them into good parenting.
Thanks!

I'm afraid I stressed them out last night by putting sponge filter.. they have completely lost interest in protecting the area where they laid the eggs.. also I am half way done with switching water over to RO water and test Ph daily. I was considering another 10 gallon to create a bare bottom spawning tank but they laid eggs so fast that I couldn't get it going. I'm open to any and all suggestions and will send pics to anyone.
Thanks

might be fungi, my friend had a pair that bred almost monthly but each clutch got fungus and was subsequently abandoned even if there were some viable eggs left
