i'm trying to get info on the blue sifter or false firemouth........i have breed FM befor but i was wanting to keep a Blue Sifter do they get alot bigger than FM i heard 10" has anyone kept this unique cichlid? i'd like to know the temperment and anything else really i've looked them up but i can only find
one site to order them from.

10" is uncommon, 8 is more likely.

they are panzies, mine was a complete pushover, nice fish, but not meant for aggressive tanks, my overly aggressive firemouth beat on mine, and mine was 8"...

it lived well with my 8" Satanoperca leucosticta, slightly more aggressive temperment, so it stayed dominant, but didnt take advantage of being dominant. they act like jurupari and that with the whole sand sifting thing to, so you want sand, not gravel.
 
I had a female that reached 8" in about two years. Then I owned a second one that never got past 3", after a year.

Quite mellow (for a Amp. cichlid). I kept mine with fish ranging from angles and G. brasiliensis to festae and midas' without issues.

I can tell you that 95% of them aren't going to get the amount of blue in that photo...that's a show specimen.
 
ditto! I had three for 3 months and they grew really slow, didnt eat much, and other fish did push them around. Good fish if you are patient.

hot fish-I seen that on rapps site also and I believe its the same fish or at least of the same family
 
yeah i realize i would never be able to find one w/ that much blue but it would be nice,

that is a site that sells them. it would be nice to have one w/ that much blue ppl would think you hybrid a FM w/ who knows what. well i think ima get one for sure even if i have to give up the Fm but w/ a 180gal tank they should do ok as long as i don't over crowd it.
