ThanxSuckers are not difficult, they do need sand to be happy but feed well without it. Blue suckers are of particular interest to me, they probably would appreciate cooler water but many suckers do not. Oxygen and water movement are more important than temps for many.
I've kept Jump rocks and hog suckers quite a bit. Smaller fish are easier to acclimate, large fish are generally not a good idea to start out with. Hog suckers are bad for jumping out and jump rocks move a lot of sand daily.
THIS +1 - I always have the hardest time keeping suckers alive in my bait tanks.....the smaller ones seem very fragile, while I managed to keep a few in the 10-12" range alive in a 65g w/ 150g of filtration. The larger ones appeared hardier and less sensitive to paramtersnot specifically blues but from what i've read suckers are hard to keep because of the way they like to eat by sifting sand some people go as far as to use a syringe to inject food into the sand. also here they are messy and need cool clean water with lots of o2
