Besides me having an 10 month old female coming this Tuesday or Wednesday does anyone else here have any tegus. I will post pics when she arrives, she will be going in a 6x4x2 for now.
Anyone else here have any Blues?

you lucky SOB lol.

ive always loved tegus. i almost had 3 or 4 hybrids but i got other reps instead.

post pics asap lol. i love blues. they are my personal favorite when it comes to tegus. reds are a close second.

Reds are my favorite but at the current moment i dont have enough space for an adult red at the moment, I was planning on getting an red in the summer but now i dont think i am as i know where i can get a blue male. I actually traded the newer male Argus for the female blue, she should be here Tuesday morning then i'm shipping him out. 1.2.1 argus will be more efficient anyways as i dont need 2 males really, he was more for a backup as i bought that pair to get an unrelated female to pair with my pale male.

To my understanding they are clearly there own species (but may be possibly a sub species of the Argentinia tegu IMO)They have been found in the wild in Brizile and a few other areas, about 7-8 years ago the first blue tegus came in to the usa. There are albinos and Luestics blues as well
heres some pics of Blues

their classification depends on who you talk to. when i was looking around i saw them listed as undiscribed.

some people think they are a seperate speices and some beleive that they are very closly related to the B&W. depends who you talk to. i know blue are not as established in the trade as B&W are. and i know that alot of people complain about the lack of fresh blue blood lines avalible.

Lucky!!!! Those are my favorite tegus! I want to get one when I have my own place.

Yup unfornatly they may be gone in a few generacions from our hobby:( We will be left with a buch of sickly higly inbred lizards. but with active selective breeding, only allowing the healtiest to breed may weed out the bad traits. Not the first time a species has been brough back from just a few ancestors just go and read about the Pare David´s deer:D

its sad that alot of the big breeders choose not to work with the blues. i can only think of one person off the top of my head that deals with the regularly. and over the past few years he has cut back on his breedings.
if i had the time and money i would start working with them. maybe in the summer im on the lookout for a new project:D

i have been going over the trade with the person since last week and now he changed his mind (thats why i will never ship 1st in a trade). I think its because he recently saw the prices of blues on kingsnake lately, i was really looking forward to getting her too :(
