I hope your LFS is responsible enough to not sell your hybrids as something other than what they really are. I have no problems with hybrids. Some are actually quite beautiful. I just don't like when stores sell them as a specific species and give it some kind of new fancy name. The grow outs that you keep should be something to look at in about 6-7months. You are correct. I have been to some "questionable" LFS that dress up Hybrids with fancy names that make them seem related to species that they are not. That's my only gripe with them. I have no problem with hybrids but I would rather have a genuine species though. There are a few hybrids that i would like to have in the future (Manaconda, Tri-snook). I even looked at your thread about the Texacons. This is another hybrid that I would love to see adult pictures of. In any case the OP should have some interesting fry to show everyone soon. I'll be looking for the pics.Sab_Fan;4480393;4480393 said:my general view on this is:
a) most responsible LFS won't sell hybrids
b) an LFS that sells hybrids may not be responsible about doing it
that is not a knock on hybrids per se, I have some myself . . . but other than Flowerhorns and Parrots, there is no real market for them . . . so if the LFS does take them, they will probably sell them under whatever name works . . .
which sux if you're someone who just bought "Honduran Red Points", only to find out you've got Convict x ??? hybrids . . .
