I have a blue texas cichlid that has some health issue, which is in my 180 gallon tank. He(I think) is divided from the rest of the tankmates right now. It is so awkward trying to think of a way to describe his problem. He basically looks like hes yawning while his mouth is closed, but obviously hes not yawning, there is something seriously wrong with him. This is not how I bought the fish, its been a few months and hes been the dominant fish in my tank. The only two assumptions I came up with, one being the fact that it might be some inflammation of some sort but the problem with that is it happened within the same day, so it wasn't anything gradual. My second assumption would be that yesterday the day it happened I was putting some medication into the tank, specifically speaking it was some anti-bacterial medication for infections due to one of my other fishes having this problem, but anyways the bottle was finshed and i wanted to get the last few drops out so I put the bottle into the water and as I did that I scared the blue texas in such a way where he just went ballistic hiting anything in his way and kind of scared me as well. I thought of it as nothing but a scare on both sides of the field(the fish and I), and so I went I continued with my daily chores, and that night I noticed he wasn't looking right, and as I took a closer look, I noticed that his lips were extended out just as if a fish would yawn and you would be able to see its softer strecthy skin which you normally wouldn't see. So for the past day hes been swimming like that, and I tried to hold him today and see if he by acccidentlly locked his lips or if some skin tied his lips so he cant retract it back again, and I was unsuccesful in trying to solve the problem. That is why I'm here writing a new thread. Honestly its 2:19 in Boston right now, and I have a flight at 5 am to Chicago for the 4th of july weekend and this is the last thing I wanted to worry about before departing. So PLEASEEEEE I hope there's someone out there who can help mean with this extremly strange situation. I wanted to take a picture of him so you guys can better analyze the problem, but I couldn't find my sisters camera, and you know most normal people usually are sleeping at this time(no offense to those who are more productive at night). So please these guys are my life and joy, if anyone can help me, please just reply or pm me. Thank you.

sounds like it may have broke something when it flipped out. not sure there is anything you could do about.

Well thanks for your help, I just came back from my trip half an hour ago and it seems like the sickness is getting worse. His eyes are bulging out and his skin is peeling and his forehead seems like theres something growing on it. This fish was in mint condiition and in a matter of five days hes the total opposite, I'm having difficulty looking at the porr fish now.

You may also want to turn off the lights and cover the tank to keep it as dark as possible. This should help to reduce your fish's stress level, which is key in helping to alleviate any health problems.
