i've been noticing my jag is developing a bluish tint on the dorsal fin the anal fin and the pelvic fins as well as the scales that are around the dorsal fin. is this common amongst jags because ive never seen it in any other pictures of them.

i wud provide pics but my camera doesn't pick up the blue very well.

I don't know if all Jags get blue on their fins or not. I think mostly males get blue coloring but I'm sure thats not always the case. My male has the blue tint on the ends of his fins too.

yes mine also has this beautiful colour and it looks better every day...have a look at the jag post in the pic section and see how many has this colouration:headbang2

my 9" male has some blue around the fins

If jaguars are kept in the right aquaria, with a healthy diet and enough room, then they should all have some sort of blueish tint. i find that wild caught jaguars have colors that wind up alot better than captive breed jaguars.

huh so u say males get it, whole time ive thought it was a female from the fins, guess i have to rename bonnie. the colors on it really become intence wen i clean the tank, it fights my hand wenever i go near the lavarock cave that it covered with gravel.

Yes my female has more blue then my male at the moment Although they are breeding but anyways as balton said not only males get the blue finnage.

Oh btw if you post a pic of your jag we can verify the sex for you, and if it ends up being male you could just name it Clyde, LOL
