hey, in my 120 gallon tank i know i am going to have 3 oscars already, tiger, red, and albino tiger

but i stopped by a different lfs today and saw they had a small like 2" "blueberry oscar" now i have never heard of one and it looked like a tiger oscar is this a true species of oscar? or ??

probably dyed. don't support that, very cruel.

Definitely a dye this shortens the life span dramaticly and causes disease. Please do not buy that fish if you want a blue fish get a jd

yea, thats what i thought when i saw it but i didnt know

i have stayed away from dyed fish all except for one, a Bright green parrot however its color faded away and within 3 months he died for no reason :( however this was 3 yrs ago and it has stopped me i wont buy anymore dyed fish

Do you just read what you wrote? Thats the thing you bought a died fish. I'm not sure if fish can feel pain. But, ink that shouldn't be in the that parrot's body was put into that parrot's body. So even if they don't feel pain, that much ink is toxic to the fish. And, it will die very quickly (much shorter life span).

Do not get that oscar.

I've heard other people say this and i just really don't know where the notion comes from that fish can't feel pain. Correct me if I'm wrong or link me to a study but I don't see a reason why they wouldn't. To me it's like saying someone who was deaf and dumb doesn't feel pain because they can't communicate it. just my opinion.

Anyways, they dye is put on them by a chemical bath that strips their slime coat then they're dumped into a dye tub and the lucky ones that do survive that process are still SOL and will die a premature death.
