I was in a LFS a few days ago and saw a tank labeled "blueberry Oscars". "What the..." I was thinking as I've never herd of a blueberry Oscar before. Sure enough there were 3" blue Oscars in the tank.:screwy:

Anyways I've been trying to find a pic of a "blueberry Oscar" particularity one that's full grown. I was thinking about getting one but the price is about 6x what a regular tiger Oscar would cost.

Can anyone find me a pic, I'm seriously thinking about buying one.

*Blue Oscars... man whats next?* :tropicalf

dont do it they are dyed artificially. my friend bought one before we knew this and because they are altered in this way they have weak immune systems and a weak slime coat. my friends got ick in the first day and died within 4 days. even if you could get the oscar to survive it wouldnt be for long because they live shortened and stunted lives

Thanks for the info. That would have been a bad buy.

So technically its an albino that's been dyed blue? I dont really know anything about dyed fish

we got one of those glass fish with the dye in one of our used tank deals, i never would have purchased one for myself, dying fish seriously bothers me and i won't support the practice.

but his dye lasted well over a year, but after a few months the line of dye was broken up and eventually it disappeared completely.

either way, don't buy dyed fish.

dying fish is stupid how would they like it if i dyed there skin blue
not tattoo!!!!

they use needles to inject dye in the parrot fish above.

but in the case of that poor "blueberry" oscar. They dunk them in a special acid that strips their slime coat and then dunk them in blue dye.

freaking stupid. there's tons of posts about it you can check out.
