I live in Asheville, NC and want to put blue gill in a 55 I have. I am use to keeping south american cichlids so I dont know much about native species! So anway how many can I keep in a standard 55 gallon? I diddnt take this pic but found it on google and this is about the ones in my area look like.

it depends on how big they get.that looks like a brem to me anyway i'd say with good filtration yes.my grannys x has a 3' brem in like a 30 gallon.

What?? That's a world record. Anyway, bluegill will easily get 8"+. I'd put one in a 55 with maybe another sunfish or two and some minnows. Maybe a madtom, too.

No, it's a bluegill. Look at the opercle flap, it's black all over, where a longear is edged in white. The pectoral fin is long and pointed, where a longear has a shorter, more rounded fin.

Anyone selling some Bluegills, I'd really like to buy one or two. If so hit me off with a PM.:naughty:
