Hello all.

I am new to this forum, and i would like to know which fish i should catch and keep, I have talked to local fishers and they said it is legal to eat and or keep the fish. So i would like to know which one in your oppinion would be easier to keep and require a smaller tank. Which one has a nicer feeding response to. Please help

A largemouth (I assume that's what you mean by bass?) would require a larger tank in the long run and bluegill have more personality, IMO. As far as feeding response that really depends. Bluegill can be very aggressive feeders but they don't go after live food the same way as LMB. A LMB has that fast strike and huge gulp.

If you're looking for the one that requires less space and easier to keep that would be bluegill, but a bluegill can still grow relatively large, so think 75 gallons at least. A LMB you're looking at 250g and up long term.

also depends on which area the largemouth was collected from. The largemouth bass cought more in the south, can easily reach past 26", while the northern bass stay smaller.

but still, you will need a much smaller tank for a bluegill.

Why not keep a sunn fish, there collors are much more interesting than a bluegill

imho.

yea, dollar sunfish can easily live in a 30g planted. But you would most likely have to buy it from an online store or local fish store. But bluegill can be caught practicly anywhere.

bass are more aggressive eaters, but they are more expensive to feed than bluegill in my experience. bass dont eat flakes, but i have got my bluegill on them

That's kind of confusing, a bluegill is a sunfish. In a broader sense so is a largemouth for that matter.
Sunfish is just a common name that refers to the Lepomis genus (which includes bluegill) or more broadly the whole Centrarchidae family.

If i were you id keep anything smaller than s bluegill. The bigger the fish the bigger the stomach. My baby bass is about 2" and can eat a good 2-3 baby guppies per meal. Bluegill can be food trained but it depends on the fish. You would be better off catching a bluegill from a pond that feeds them pellet food reguarly

All my sunfish have come from normal rivers or lakes and all have transitioned to pellets (including the LMB I used to have).
It's not difficult at all IMO, and the main problem people have getting them on dried food is overfeeding. Sunfish can go a LONG time without food and I have never seen one let themselves starve to death. I'd say it's more likely that they WILL go onto pellets than not.
