Would a bluegill mixed with a Jack Dempsey and Convict get along? or am I asking for disaster. Im getting a 90 gallon tank, so the stocking would be:

1x Jack Dempsey - 6"
1x Common Pleco - 10"
1x Convict - 3"
1x Bluegill - ?"

the native bluegill her in california probably like colder waters then the cichlids do.... im beginning to answer my own question, haha.

I recommend keeping natives in cold water, but my Bluegill does fine in my tropical growout.

Though temp would not be an issue (78 F will be fine) I think the tank would be a bit overstocked and you might run into aggresion issues.
I notice your list is a bit off on sizes, should look more like this.

1x Jack Dempsey - 8-10"
1x Common Pleco - 12-18"
1x Convict - 4-6" (sex depending)
1x Bluegill - 10-12"

Personally I would cut the pleco out, they grow the largest and contribute the most bio-load. You should be able to handle the other three if aggresion is not a problem. Make sure you have plenty of cover for all the fish.

I think he was telling you the current size of his fish and was asking what size bluegill he should get. I personally would do it. I really don't think that tank would be overstocked at all but getting rid of the pleco would help. Also I would get a bluegill that is around the same size of the jack...

Yeah, I was listing the current size of the fish. I might get rid of the pleco, maybe get a bristlenose or something. Thanks for the help all, I cant wait to catch the Bluegill, hopefully I can find a nice sized one.

one of my friends tried a bluegill in with his africans it ended up killing them all except for a yellow lab that can almost never come out of his cave now the yellow lab is with me and the bluegill has a few more BG friends in his tank... I would be almost willing to say that they are way more agro then any African I have ever owned I think that I have a few SA that would school a BG though

I have tried several different sunfish with different cichlids. Most do ok keeping them about the same size but the real mean cichlids(texas, devils, jaguares and jacks) tend to beat on the sunfish
