Hey guys and gals,
I have a half acre pond in northeast pa, self stocked with bluegills, perch, crappy with bluegills making up most of aprox 180 mature fish transferred from 6 different lakes, Also put in aprox 6 mature bass. The pond will be 3 years old this sept. Anyhow Ive had some fish dying, at first perch and then bluegills. Not sure if excess temps or they are starving. I did put in pond snails, fresh water clams, 1000 fatheads last spring. The pond stays fairly clear as it is spring fed, granted it is down about 2 feet from the drought conditions weve had in Northeast Pa. Im thinking of buying purina aquamax 500 carnivore to help them before the big freeze comes. Any suggestions on food would be appreciated as Ive read up on protein content etc. Its a pretty deep pond at 15 feet also. Thanks Jeff

i would aerate it anyway. even if you aerate through winter that should prevent the ice from completely freezing over, if you want your fish to do great i would add that. also 1000 fatheads isnt much for 180 fish, if each fish ate 2 thats almost every fathead, you should get a batch of 10,000 or so to stock it
