I recently bought a bn pleco which is around 5 inches. My flowerhorn was constantly attacking her, so I moved her to 40 gallon tank with two small red parrots (3 inch, I know tank is small, I will be housing them there till they are small). Parrots keep attacking pleco, because of shape of their mouths they don't cause any harm. But the pleco attacks back.I never saw bn pleco attack back on fish.

Is there any harm waiting to see if it settles in few days?

I kept a BN with peacocks and some synos and my BN was very territorial and chased them out of his area very aggressively

Bristlenose have spikes on each side of their head and they are sharp so capable of doing harm.

At that size if it were a male it would have whiskers around the edge of its face and a row down the middle. Males and females both have gill plate odontids and will use them to defend themselves. Yes, they hurt when stabbed. BNP can be very aggressive when defending themselves or their territory.

Thank you guys, I moved pleco back in to flowerhorns tank with added partition. Parrots are happier and seems like so does the bn pleco. I am not sure if I should find a new home for her.

You could had hiding spots to the BP tank and try again.
