so got some live shrimp and it had these in it
am I right in thinking to not let them in my tank as they're a parasite?
not sure if all shrimp is no good or is it still OK but make sure no boatman get in tank?
any advice please?

Every live stocks you buying from LFS are come with potential risk of parasites and other deadly diseases, so you would either setup a quarantine tank or taking your risk and deal with it :) you will see some folks might say something that they live feeding they fish species for years and no issues, some complained feed live stock only 1 time and their fish got sick and died. I myself used to feed my predator live feeders without quarantine them first (I bought from LFS then went home dump out all the water in the bag and just drop them all in my tank) and my predator has no issues at all...its might build up its immunity system after time to deal with those parasites lol I'm just saying without any test experiences. :)
Note: Most LFS setup their live feeders filtration separate from the main selling stock filtration system...they do that for a reason, right?. :p
