I have just set up my first discus tank, i have 2 inches of gravel at the bottom, its 260 litres and i have 4 discus in their at about 3 inches long.

I have a large bit of bogwood i wish to place in the tank but it will not sink and will not stop growing a white moss......

Its too big to boil, i have soaked in the bath for about 2 weeks over all and it still floats and grows moss.

I have to get this piece in as it looks so good! please help me

The white scummy stuff is normal. It will eventually stop. I usually just rub my hands over it at water chnage to get as much as possible off. I usually either just put it in my tank and let it gradually sink, or you could put rocks on top of it, which I have done before as well. I have a piece in my 150 that has been floating for a month.

Ahh the white stuff is making my tank look horrible though, its in the kitchen so i cant really have a horrible looking tank :s
