What type of wood can be used for bogwood? I was thinking of using local lake driftwood to stick in my pond and create cover for my fish.
To sanitize I was thinking of pouring boiling water of the wood. Will take any and all suggestions and comments thanks.:nilly:

I am actually in the process of curing my first found pieces of drift wood. They say you should boil them for at least 20 minutes. This is suppose to kill all the micro-organisms and leach out some of the tannins. Then you soak the wood in a salt solution until it is fully saturated (can take weeks). Then you can rinse and use. This is what I'm doing to use some pieces in an aquarium, with a pond you might not have to be as thorough.

Thanks, toolbox for all the info. Ill try to find so hardwood driftwood at the local lakes and ponds that i find asthetically pleasing.:headbang2
