I purchased bogwood from my lfs, wondering if it has the same benifits for pleco's that driftwood has?

yeah pretty much. sometimes more depending on what type of wood it is. malaysian iron wood can be hard for them to chew on and others are softer..

I need to get some. Never use wood found locally or grapevine in an aquarium as these will decay and kill the fish.

Except if you find it well washed out in a flowing body of water ... then it's great for your tank!
