Has anyone fed their fish boiled egg white? I tried it last night and it was a big hit. Even the tiger dat had some, and until he has only eaten worms. oscars loved if of course.

Is there anything dangerous about this food?

Thanks :D

That sounds like a pretty good idea. Did it make the water dirty, or create a film over the surface? I might have to try that.

No, not really. It blew some chunks around when the oscars grabbed into it, but no film or any of that and the others cleaned up the rest

It's not bad for the fish if done every now and then, but it holds no nutritional value at all after you cook the egg. It will also give more protein to your cichlids (especially oscars) than they require. This over an extended period will lead to health issues.

i think an oscar with boil egg in its diet, will grow HUGE!!!!!!

again like you said zoo, it should be done sparingly

discus love egg white (not cooked) a drop is all you need for a clutch per feed- they eat it like slime coat

That was one of the first things I thought of when I got my first tank and read that discus need loads of protein. But, since neither the brand-fish food nor frozen discus pasta contain eggwhite, and nobody on any of the fish-websites I've been on ever mentioned eggwhite, I decided that there must be some problem with it.

Obviously you cant feed only eggwhite, but I'd like to hear from one of the experts here whether or not it can be fed sometimes.

Lets try protien shakes as well. Damn fish eat better then me!
