hi, I have a 29 gallon hi-tech heavily planted tank with 5 bolivian rams. two separate pairs have both had batches of fry, the batch I removed didnt do so well and now I only have one batch (currently wigglers) in with the parents. I think I will just let the fry stay with the parents and hope some survive. so my question is, what tetras or other schooling fish would be fine in my set up without picking out the fry and eggs. I cant find pencil fish anywhere and I know those are the best. I was thinking about some rummynose tetras.

In a heavily planted 29, I can only imagine the nightmare it must be to try and remove a bunch of fry. On the plus side, the heavy cover will increase the survivability of the fry even in a community tank.

Pencil fish look good. I have never head any, but hear good things. I personally love rummy nose tetras. Unfortunately I can't find good quality ones here and they jut end up dying due to poor genes.

Rummy prefer higher temps than the bolivans might like, and aren't too bad at the fry hunting. They are quick.

Youre spot on with the pencilfish...maybe some of the smaller boraras species or Celestial Pearl Danios CPO's.

Good luck!

pencils and lamp eye killis are the only dithers I know are safe with free. Smaller tetras from the same area as the bolivians they should be able to handle are black neons and green fire bloodfins.

Green fires are much smaller than the standard bloodfins, they've always acted more like black neons or cardinals when I had them.
