Hello I'm working on setting up a 210 gallon aquarium 96"Lx24"Wx21"H my plans for stocking are 1 red spotted severum 1 ntt datnoid 1 ebjd 1 harlequin lancer catfish 1 ornate bichir and one or two other bichirs, I was wondering if a bolt cat could work in this setup. From what I've read they are a quite active and outgoing catfish (not as much as a vulture cat) and that they grow to about 13" as for temperament I've read they usually are semi aggressive to other bottom dwellers except they are very aggressive towards their own kind.

The one i have would live ok at 12" with the mix of fish you suggest if they were all full grown, but like with all fish, i might just have one with a calm temprement.

You got your bolt facts laid out correctly... at the curt and generalistic face value, IMHO.

I'd agree with Dave that your mix has a good chance to work out. Yet, if you have been in the hobby long enough, you know any (unnatural) combo is a gamble. Be prepared to split, separate, etc. but overall, I give it a positive chance.

For instance, I've no clue why Iamfish Iamfish 's senegali attacks his Hemibagrus per post https://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/threads/my-catfish.716071/page-5#post-8096911 My senegali seems indifferent to any tank mates.

IDK exactly what will come from the lancer-bolt interaction. I'd not expect complications but who knows.

Everyone's tank differs.

-- Set up,
-- furniture and hides,
-- order of introduction,
-- relative sizes,
-- sexes,
-- water temp,
-- season,
-- flow,
-- individual temperament,
-- interaction with other tank mates,
-- etc.

all have their bearing, slashing our predictive power badly.

Some / most things are best learnt from experience. My stupid motto. But I also have 50,000 gallons of tanks here.
