I have two 40mm thick acrylic sheets (each one 48"x12") that I need to bond across the short end into a long "L" shape. I have the bonding cement, a 2 part bond called "Tensol 70" by bostik. What I'm not so sure about is how to go about doing the bond. Ordinarilly, for thinner stuff I can see it being pretty simple, but how do I go about ensuring a bubble free clear bond 40mm wide and 12" long. Any tips much appreciated. Cheers.

make sure you our on a level flat surface. if you have pipe clamps i would clamp the two pieces together for a nice tite bond and that will eliminate all air bubbles

Thanks for the response.

With it being so thick, should I use a needle to inject the cement into the seam in stages? Should I shim the seam, so I have an even thickness all the way along, or try and run the cement along the edge and just push them together and hope the cement 1) doesn't cure too quickly, 2) spreads out to fill the whole seam and 3) doesn't run out all over the place.

Can you find thinner stuff. Over here we have Weld on and it comes in different thicknesses. A very thin solvent would work if you clamped them together because of the capilary action, but with thicker you might have to run it on the seams then press them together. Keeping pressure on it ensures bubble free joints. But if I were you I'd find a thinner solvent
