anyone ever heard of book crossing...

it is when some one drops off a book at some random place (like a pet shop) and someone grabs it and reads it and passes it on.

i just got a fish book this way, now to read it and send it back on its traveling.

That's a good idea. There is a lot of trust involved though. I know a few months ago, a new exhaust company for quads debuted. To promote their product, they had a number of exhaust systems for different quads floating around. Everyone was given a month, then was expected to ship the pipe on to the next guy. It was pretty cool-the concept, not the pipe lmao.

There is one book exchange at the bloodbank and another at a bus stop near here. I also leave books everywhere.

I've heard of that before. NPR had a story on it a couple of years back. There was an author who did that with his self-published book in order to drum up enough word-of-mouth to get a published -- and it worked! It sounds a little bit like a randomized and less-controlled version of geocaching to me. :)
