I have purchased a couple books that show pictures and tell you some things about some fish. I am looking for the ones like the pert stores have here ( i am in Japan right now in the military so i need english books) They show a picture of the fish and under them tell you about feeding, temperment and the like. I have looked online but i can not see inside the book. Does anyone know a good one like the fish stores have and where i can get them?

thank you

Here's a few I found on eBay. I keep Axelrod's and Burgess's Fresh and Saltwater Atlas' for my main book's and then have some other's about fishkeeping in general and also some on specific type's of fish that interest me (betta's, Central American Cichlids, Catfish, etc). I think it's just personal preference really. After a while you'll notice that a lot of the information overlap's from book to book, so I've found it's not necessary to have a huge library on the topic. I have about a dozen book's and it's worked for me for year's and year's.

Most books, that describe a lot of species, won't have a picture accompanied by a lot of info. The ones that have many species will have a picture, and basic info. Good books like this are any Aqualog book, the Axelrod's freshwater encyclopedia, and some books that are good, and do include information about the fish are the Baensch Freshwater aquarium atlases. There are 4 atlases out by Baensch.

thanks for the info, the problem i have with one of the ones i have now is that it only has pictures maybe only 10 percent of the pictures have any info. I will look into the ones you suggested.

I would love to save the money and learn from MFK BUT..... :naughty:

thank you all for the replies.

I just cant wait to get back to the states and get the BIG tanks set up.
