I recently started my first planted tank which is a 10gal with an HOB filter. I was consitering different algae eating fish I can stock with and ran across the borneo suckers in my LFS. they are so cool looking and I read that they don't get over 2in which would be a good size for my tank. However I also read that they need highly oxygenated water. Wouldn't this be counter productive to my plants though? I can add an airstone but I don't want to do that if it will be bad for the plants. I don't currently have a CO2 system on my tank because I'm trying to do with out it. So my question is would these fish go well in my tank or should I stick with oto cats instead?

Too bad. Despite their size, hillies need fast flowing waters hence the demand for high oxygen levels. That's not possible in a 10g where the water movements will simply create a whirlpool effect.

A lot of plants can handle their environment just fine. Anubias and Java ferns are something you can consider. I've used vallisnerias, crypts, Amazon swords and Java moss before along with two others mentioned earlier for my river setups.

ok, sticking with the oto cats then. Thanks Lupin!
