Bosemanis dying after water change!

So I just did my normal water change. Everything was the same except I turned the filter off this time. I did about 25%

Like usual the temp dropped about 1.5-2 degrees F.

Right when it was done all my Bosemani swam to the top which was unusual. I left the room to clean the siphon up and when I came back, one was going drunk. Swimming sideways and such. After he had hit he the bottom, another one of my males started going crazy. Jumping and freaking out.

They are both dead on the bottom of the tank now. I don't want to fish them out because I don't want to stress the others out anymore.

I've turned the lights off. The others are still at the top looking fine, I think. I just ran out of water conditioner so I'm off to get more right now.

What do I do?
 
where's your water coming from? maybe there was as spike in nitrates, usually happens during the winter, or maybe some extra chlorine got dumped into your water system.

Sink as usual. I'm using the Gravel Vac system. I just got home with water conditioner. The 3 remaining Bosemani look fine as well as the other fish. Lights are still off. How long should I keep them off for?
 
lights don't have much to do with it. I have a 50 breeder with 2 pairs of bosemani and 6 parkonsoni rainbows all adults. They are pretty hardy but if you added water from the tap without conditioner it could have had a lot of chrloramines in it. Hence the fish going down the way they did. Add some prime as soon as possible and leave the tank alone for at least 2 weeks then a 25% water change. Make sure you have some Prime on hand or other good water conditioner before doing your water change.

Ya this is the first time I didn't have any conditioner on me. I didn't notice until it was time to put it in after the change.

Now I just have to figure out what to do with 2.1 Bosemanis. Should I get more?

Dont drink the water in mexico....
 
I always check my bottle before I start my wc! And u try to have at least 2 bottles on hand at all times
