would a school of sidthimunki work? being more diurnal will modesta leave them alone? my modesta is 6" and the most interresting fish Ive had in years. I have lots of simple low-light plants and have never found more than 2 snails at a time (my loach loves snails) My book says "they may be less well-disposed toward similar species." What exatly does this mean? What would be the best match for a adult Redtail Loach in a 40 gal.?

Modestas are extremely aggressive punks! No way would I advise mixing the poor sids with them. Skunk loaches will do better. They're equally nasty as the modestas.
zebras sound about right. Thanks, Im finally learning how to use forums. modesta hates my pigish gold gourami. This loach has lived through some amazing catastrophies, found em on the floor once dried up like a salamander with dog hair all over em (tough fish)
