So what's the difference? I saw a red tailed Botia at my LFS and it looked like a large clown loach minus the coloring. Are they just as good of a clean up crew? Major differences? Any input would be appreciated.

They are both loaches/ botias. Blues, or red tails, don't get as large but grow faster. I like them both and consider them as centerpieces, not cleaners. Whichever you decide get several. They like to shoal.

i have a group of 3-6" red tailed blue botia's,, fairly aggressive . in a CA tank and hold their own... will mix it up with clown loaches(botia) and had to be seperated, my experience. Like mentioned not really a clean up crew , as my loaches both red tailed and clowns will hunt and eat guppies along with rosie red minnows..GL
