hi all,
this is my 1st post here...
i wanted to know if it would be wise 2 install a bottom drain on my 100g bare bottom tank..
i need to get rid of the goo that always sits at the bottom
i have 2 flowerhorns in my tank & the height of the tank is 2ft
i would like 2 take the bottom drain line directly to my sump which is placed at the same height as my tank
rgds

Are you planning on having this bottom drain constantly open? If so, I don't think it will work. It might work if you had a valve on it to close it once you have drained it a bit.

Best way to get rid of the goo is strong current. Since you have a bare bottom get you some nice power heads put them on the bottem and turn them on. You can get two 1200GPH power heads off ebay for like 40.00, if you put them on the bottom and pointed them at each other the bottom would be clean. All goo would be forced up where if can be drained via a normal drain.

if the tank and sump are at the same level, the water wont flow to the sump. You need gravity to make water flow or a mechanical pump.
