I recent bought a used 220gallon. The tank has 5 holes drill in bottom. One in each back corner over flow setup. Then one in middle of tank at back and two flanking the center hole but At the front. My question is what would be a great filtration set up ? Sump or can? Any ideas would be great. I attached pic

Holes drilled like that are usually used for a sump.
But stand pipes would be used in order to to keep water level high, and not have all the water drain out by gravity.
At 1st glance I'd put a stand pipe on the middle hole in back, and also use the corner overflows to the sump.
I'd probably add bulk heads to the extra front holes, with on/off valves below the tank, and add PVC lines going directly to the outside yard for quick and easy water changes, or to use if the tank needed to be drained completely and quickly.

Are all of the bulkheads the same size? Also, what size are they?

It looks like it may have been used as a reef tank.

I would plug the front two holes and use the back three as overflows. Then, use over the back returns. If you really want to use the front two holes, then I would only use them in a closed loop system.
