Hello, i am wondering what bottom dwellers are compatible with striped raphael catfish in a 55 gallon cichlid tank- BTW the cichlids i am going to have are a blood parrot, firemouth, male convict OR a pair of jack dempsey, any opinions/facts are appreciated and needed, thanks!

I would not be worried about the raphael, I would be more worried about any cichlids you decide to keep with the raphael in the 55g which I believe is just too narrow of a footprint- the raphael is the most easiest going cat out there and will not be showing aggression unless its over the hiding spots they will push out other catfish if they thought they could bulldoze them out of the way if they wanted that hiding spot that bad.

What catfish you can get away really basically falls on which cichlid youre going to be getting if you have not yet done so.

Ive kept them with bumble bee cats even. IME they like to hide alot during the day

thanks, are these fish compatible with raphael catfish and cichlids?
synodontis eupterus (featherfin catfish)
synodontis nigrita (lace synodontis) (False upside down catfish)
Dojo/Weather loach
senegal bichir
Peacock Eel
Rhino Plecostomus
Bristlenose Plecostomus

thanks for any facts/opinions

How about a gold nugget pleco? It won't outgrow a 55g and is pretty awesome looking. This profile page says they get 6" but I used to have one over 7"....and kept it in a 55g for over eight years.

I also had a striped raphael back then that I still have now. Oh and bringing up raphaels, have you thought about a spotted raphael?

i like gold nugget pleco, but they are too expensive, do you know the growth rates of raphael catfish, featherfin synodontis, and rhino pleco? if you do then please share, thanks.
