are there any bottom dwellers that could coexist well with a pack of demasoni?

Most likely, they will be in a 55 or 75 gal tank, since my 125 gal has been taken over by clown loaches, and I'm not willing to part with my loach collection. lol.

Synodontis. Don't mix loaches with African cichlids.

1 Syncrossus helodes if you want a loach tough enough to live with demasoni, but they get too big for a 55g
I have syno eupterus in with the demasoni with no trouble.

I don't agree with mixing loaches along with African cichlids. Their body system is not designed to handle added electrolytes available in the water conditions required by African cichlids. Furthermore, loaches of Syncrossus genus are prone to fading away if kept singly and constantly pushed around. They will not act aggressively as they would in a group but neither am I suggesting a group of loaches in a Rift Valley biotope.

I've explained facts already in this thread why African cichlids and loaches don't mix. Some people can claim it will work but will the loaches survive for several years while under torture of constant harassments? This is looking at just demasonis alone who are notoriously aggressive.

I've seen people with corys in african cichlid tanks. is that a "no go" as well?

I've got ten synodontis that are about 5-7" in my 180 gal, but they're all packing together, so i'd much rather keep them all together if i can. and i don't think cramming them all into a 75 gal would be the best thing to do. lol.

No, it's not recommended either. Cories do not know how to defend themselves. Eventually, your cichlids will harass them to death and even pluck their eyes out.

ewww... well, good to know.

Ive read your article excellent info!
I wouldnt reccomend any other loach for a mbuna tank. Not reccomending one for this tank, its too small.
I have yet to hear of a person succesfully keeping a group of them they usually end up separating the group.
Pushed around?! If youve ever kept a tiger loach you would know how funny that sounds!

And as for water parameters all my fish get thier water straight out of the tap.

The context used in that phrase is different. Yes, I keep tiger loaches and I am aware of how they behave.;)

Synos. will be the best bet.
