bottom dwellers???

Hey,
I have a 5'' Florida in a 50gal growout right now and have found the need for either a bottom dwelling fish(beside plecos) or a crustation of some type to clean up the bottom of the tank. any suggestions?

very true... i have 2 plecos and still have to siphon the tank out almost everyday. i just take out all the crap and uneaten food which takes about 5 minutes and 10 gallons of siphoned water.
not saying that you are looking for a bottom dweller to not be lazy. just incase you are most of them produce more waste then your normal fish and they don't eat s**t.

they will also suck on the slime coat of gars, similarly to plecos, and are therefore not advised as tankmates.

go with bichirs, Australian or South American lungfish, African bonytongue (will siphon a lot of substrate for you). other than that, siphon and/or use some bottom-dwelling plants such as crypts to suck up the excess nutrients.

in the end, frequent, large water changes will go a long way--

i agree with bichirs. you dont want a crustacean it will either kill or be killed
