well you all know that i just got a 150g African cichlid tank, and i now need a good bottom feeder or 2 that will work good with my africans. Most are between 3-5in with one guy at about 7in. OscarHook is giving me his 7in Sailfin Pleco so i am just looking for a good bottom feeder to put in the tank and one that wont get beat up.

Synodontis eupterus is an excellent choice
as they naturally occur with africans and dont compete for the same food

I've tried clown loaches,tiger loaches,synodontis eupterus and they all worked well.but my first choice is synodontis multipuntatus.
Any of the Synodontis species, eupterus, multiplunctatus, occilifer etc, should do well. I have two species in with a Clown loach and there is no problem. In another tank I have the smaller Botia striata and Pakistani loach and they hold there own.
try some clown loaches or even a small catfsh. make sure to buy atleast 2 loaches though, they do better in pairs.
i've kept africans with assorted synodontis cats and even south american pims.
they'll all work, but sometimes the cichlids will nip the fins, but nothing too serious.

Plecos work well Ive heard tiger loaches too and any sydonts.I saw somewhere the mbuna were biting the clown loaches eyes out in someones tank.
