I have a 150g pike/snook tank. Not planning on any other fish, but would like a bottom/scavenger to eat dead fish parts (from feeders) and uneaten krill. We tried 2 different plecos (common) 1 quite larger than the other, and a sydontis cat fish (no particular species that im aware of) both killed. We also tried a blue crayfish (also sold as blue lobster) that sucker was pike food in less than an hour. I have a rafael in another tank 65g, and was wondering if safe to put in the 150 since i have enoguh bottom feeders in 65 anyway...
the rafael is about 6"..snooks are about 7" and pike is much bigger at 10".
all fish are still under year old. Thanks for advice.

You could go with O. niger, irwini, and most of the other armoured cats. Ripsaws are best though, although they get large. Royal plecos are generally too large for pikes to eat, even if they are smaller. Stay away from the larger pims though, like RTC and TSN, as they will grow to large to fast and eat your pikes...:(.

The raphael should be aight, as long as its at least 6".

I agree with pnut. I dont think that anything wants mess with a spikey little rapheal. I have a little 4'' raphy in my big tank with my 14'' lentic and pbass and such and it is off limits foodwise to all of them and does a great job at bottom cleaning. Just make sure that you have plenty of hiding places for it... I rarely ever even see mine....
