Bottom feeders with Red Devil

Is this a possible thing to do? I have a bichir and Lima shovelnose with my juvenile Red Devils and I can’t seem to get any food to the bottom for them. Red Devils devour it all. Is there a way to make this work? Other than maybe waking up at 1am when the devils are sleeping and throw some pellets in.

Try feeding with the lights out and room dark the Lima Shovelnose and Bichir will locate the food by smell.

That was what I was thinking as well. I turn my lights out when I go to bed though. So unless I want to set an alarm and wake up a couple hours after the lights go out. Don’t know if I really want to do that though.

It will definitely have to be dark because the Red Devils will still see food in dim light lol.

You can try having a helper. You feed the Devils and get their attention, when occupied have helper drops food on the other side of the fish tank for the bottom feeders.

Yahh. I’m thinking I may have to re home them. Feel bad that they aren’t getting any food.

To get food to my bottom feeders I put floating in first and then drop sinking pellets while the cichlids are distracted. They intercept some, but enough gets to the cat.

How about an auto feeder? You can set the timer to drop in food in the middle of the night.

I have two bichir in a tank with red devil, midas, large bala sharks. I drop food in right before lights out and just accept the fact they will get some of the bichir food.

That is a pretty darn good idea. Might look into that thank you!
