Im thinking of taking out the sand in my tank and painting the bottom... (I have a 55 gallon I can store everyone in for a few days) But before I do this Id love to see some painted bottom tanks! What colours look best ? my back is black !

Nah Ive painted tanks before... I used Car window tink on the back of the tank in the pic... Ive just never painted the bottom... only the backs...

Im assuming it will be the same and not be a mirror. Ive seen a picture some where on here but I cant remember where !

Insted of paint why dont you cover the bottom with black bristol board. Then you dont have to worry about paint on the bottom in the future (if you change your mind or try to sell). plus its wayyy cheaper.

Just my 2 cents.

I dont know the difference between the painted stand and the painted glass. A painted bottom would be cool, especially if you painted it different color, but why do you want to paint the bottom? The tank looks more natural with substrate and decor, is it for easier maintenance?

its WAY easier for maintenance ! Ive had bare bottom before its so easy to keep your tank clean and your chemicals (nitrates and things) under controle. Water is allways super clear... Plus with this huge gar he kicks up alot of sand when he blasts off... I think Im going to paint the bottom I dont ever plan on selling this tank. Plus its the bottom of the outside if you want substrate you can still put it in.

I painted this 10G feeder tank black on all sides(except front) in the inside of the tank with krylon fusion. I let it dry for a week but it sucks. After two month it would start to crumble and need repainting so after 5 months I just took the paint out.
