How important is the trim on the bottom of tanks? I got a cheap 55 that the bottom trim is cracked and has missing pieces. Can I run it without the bottom trim? Has anyone ever tried that? Just didn't want to go the hassle of redoing it if I didn't need to. I may just put wood trim around the bottom if I need to.

Thanks.

i wouldnt run it with no trim on bottom. wood might work but if you want to replace it i would check out http://cciaquarium.com/

the guy is very nice and he sells frames and stuff to build tanks. only wholesale prices are on the site but if you get the number and call him he will give you retail prices. my top trim with center brace for a 45 tall tank was around 10 or 12 bucks. its very reasonable. a local fish store said they could order it and it would be $53.
