I was in a petland discounts and one of their tanks had a note on it saying that for a limited time any fish in the tank was just 2 dollars. You can imagine my shock when I saw a brown ghost knife (actually, four of them about 2-3 inches long) in that tank. It was an offer I couldn't refuse.

Here are some pics after 4 days... the best I could do because it refuses to come into the light. So far no problems with the tankmates and it seems to like its cave and the dense vegetation around it... been trying various foods including live brine shrimp and blackworms, which I think it took but I couldn't see for sure. Any tips, as I am knew to knife fish?

but yea, isn't that a crazy deal?

btw, am I the only one that thinks the brown ghost knife looks cooler than the black ghost? (easier to house, too)

Great deal! I think black ghost knives look cooler lol sorry if I sound mean. (replying to your above question) but I only like them more because of the white tails.

I had a black ghost that loved this tube thingy.

And yeah, sorry to say but black ghost knives look better.

I do like the longer " horse" face look of the browns

Yea I know most people will like the black ones better, but I suppose I like the brown and yellow color combination more than the black and white and like golcondorus I like the long snout of the brown ghost knife. Definitely not as flashy though. The smaller size is plus for me as well, but that might be different if I had a large tank.

sidenote: I'm a contrary sort of person, I've noticed, drawn towards obscurities in the way that I like porpoises more than dolphins, donkeys more than horses, goats more than sheep, vultures and owls more than eagles and falcons, and so on. I always have to be different, you know? :nilly:
